New era in restaurants and cafes Menus must list ingredients
Information on the ingredients and allergens of food served in restaurants, cafes, canteens, and dining halls will now be presented to consumers on menus, boards, brochures, or digital means. According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, information can also be shared via digital screens or QR codes.
When QR codes are used, businesses will be required to display a notice in a visible location stating, “You can access this information via QR code. Consumers who cannot use QR codes will be provided with the information separately upon request.”
**INCREASING CONSUMER AWARENESS**
The aim of the new application is to enable consumers to make informed choices, protect them from allergens, and facilitate choices that align with religious, health, or personal preferences.
Additionally, menus will be required to include the energy (calorie) values of food items.
