The lawyer who beat his mother to death appeared before the judge

Lawyer Kayhan Yıldırım, who beat his mother Gül Yıldırım (65) to death in the Elbistan district of Kahramanmaraş, was sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of “intentionally killing a parent with monstrous cruelty” in the trial in which he was held in custody.

NEIGHBORS NOTIFIED THE POLICE
According to the DHA news agency, the incident occurred in March of last year in the Elbistan district of Kahramanmaraş. Gül Yıldırım’s neighbors called the police, saying that they had been hearing sounds of fighting coming from the house for a few days, but the sounds had stopped for a while and the woman hadn’t gone outside.

POLICE WENT TO THE HOUSE
Upon the notification, the police went to the house with medical teams.

FOUND MOTIONLESS ON THE FLOOR
When the teams entered, they found Yıldırım lying motionless on the floor.

SHE COULD NOT BE SAVED DESPITE ALL INTERVENTIONS
Gül Yıldırım, who was taken to Elbistan State Hospital and found to have been severely beaten, could not be saved despite all the doctors’ efforts.

HER SON WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY
In the investigation launched into the incident, the police took the woman’s lawyer son, Kayhan Yıldırım, into custody.

HE WAS ARRESTED AND SENT TO PRISON
Following the procedures at the police station, Yıldırım was arrested and sent to prison after being brought to the courthouse.

A CASE WAS FILED AGAINST HIM
At the end of the investigation, a case was filed against Kayhan Yıldırım in the Elbistan High Criminal Court with a request for aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of “intentionally killing a parent with monstrous cruelty.”

HE APPEARED BEFORE THE JUDGE FOR THE LAST TIME
The detained defendant Yıldırım, who stated during the trial that he did not intend to kill his mother, appeared before the judge for the last time at the sentencing hearing.

**SENTENCED TO AGGRAVATED LIFE IMPRISONMENT**
Reiterating his previous defenses, Kayhan Yıldırım was sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment by the court for the crime of “intentionally killing an ascendant with monstrous cruelty,” due to the manner in which the crime was committed, the tools used in committing the crime, and the location where the crime was committed.

**NO REDUCTION IN SENTENCE**
No reduction in sentence was applied to Kayhan Yıldırım due to “his personality observed during the trial and his attitude and behavior showing no remorse after the crime.”
