Illegal tobacco operation 205,000 cigarette filters seized

In Gemlik district of Bursa, gendarmerie teams seized 205,000 untaxed cigarette tubes, 79,800 cigarettes filled with tobacco, and 200 kilograms of shredded tobacco in an operation. Legal proceedings have been initiated against two suspects.

In Gemlik district of Bursa, gendarmerie teams seized 205,000 untaxed cigarette tubes, 79,800 cigarettes filled with tobacco, and 200 kilograms of shredded tobacco in an operation.

As part of the efforts to prevent the illegal trade of tobacco and tobacco products, coordinated by the Gemlik Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office and carried out by the Bursa Provincial Gendarmerie Command teams, searches were conducted at the workplaces, warehouses, and residences of two suspects for whom arrest warrants had been issued. During the searches, 205,000 untaxed cigarette tubes, 79,800 cigarettes filled with tobacco, and 200 kilograms of loose shredded tobacco for rolling cigarettes were seized. The seized smuggled products were confiscated, and legal proceedings were initiated against two suspects identified as being connected to the incident, upon the instruction of the Gemlik Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Authorities stated that inspections and operations against smuggled tobacco and tobacco products will continue resolutely. – BURSA
