Heavy rainfall in Erbil Iraq has negatively impacted daily life

Heavy rainfall in Erbil, Iraq, negatively impacted daily life. Many roads were flooded, and some vehicles were stranded.

According to an Anadolu Agency (AA) reporter from the region, water accumulated on streets and roads after the rain. Vehicles struggled to move and were forced to stop, causing difficulties for drivers.

In Erbil’s Seydava neighborhood, roads around the market were closed to traffic due to flooding. Some drivers who had parked their vehicles there found them submerged when they returned.

Some drivers managed to move their vehicles after noticing the rising water level. However, some vehicles not in the area were completely submerged.

Officials from the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government (IKRG) warned citizens to avoid driving unless absolutely necessary due to the rainfall.

-Underpasses without drainage systems pose a risk

Underpasses in the city that lack drainage systems pose a risk to both drivers and pedestrians. Authorities are warning against parking in such areas during rainy weather.

Despite this, some drivers, citing short errands as a reason, are reportedly ignoring the warnings and continuing to park their vehicles in prohibited zones.
