Bus crashes into overpass support pillar 5 people killed
In Kahramankazan district of Ankara, a privately owned public bus crashed into the support pillar of an overpass, resulting in 5 deaths and 14 injuries.
The privately owned public bus, with license plate 06 HO 1460, driven by Efe Erdem and operating between Ankara and Kızılcahamam, first hit the roadside barriers and then the support pillar of the overpass in the Saray neighborhood.
In the accident, the driver Erdem and passengers Hamiyet Bilge Uslu, Mehmet Sucu, Safiye Simge Sucu, and Yağmur Güzel lost their lives, and 14 people were injured, 4 of them seriously.
The injured were rescued from the vehicle by fire department teams and taken to various hospitals in Kahramankazan and Ankara by 112 Emergency Medical Services teams.
Following the accident, Kızılcahamam Mayor Süleyman Acar, who arrived at the scene, stated that the privately owned public bus, belonging to the Metropolitan Municipality, crashed into the barriers while heading towards Ankara, and that 5 people died and 14 were injured in the accident.
Acar offered condolences to those who lost their lives in the accident and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
Kahramankazan Mayor Selim Çırpanoğlu also explained that the privately owned public bus, which started its journey from Kızılcahamam at 7:00 AM, first hit the barriers and then the support pillar of the overpass in the Saray neighborhood of Kahramankazan, saying, “We pray to God for mercy on those who died in the accident and patience for their families. We also wish a speedy recovery to the injured.”
